Click the notify button that is next to the reply button. You will then get an email whenever a new post is added, but you will get only one notification until you actually use the link in the email and visit the thread.

Also, in your profile you have the option to manage “notices and email.” You can set it up to be notified of replies to any thread to which you’ve posted (or one that you might have started).
