Is cell phone number traceble (bandit signs)?

Just thinking …
Should I add a phone line to my existing contract w/Verizon Wireless, and post this new number on the bandit signs… Will this number be traceble for local authorities?

Usually, you can only trace the number back to the carrier. However, be aware that law enforcement has different database access than the average “Joe Bag O’Doughnutz”…for instance, law enforcement can see Caller ID even if it is blocked to everyone else (part of the E911 system)…additionally, they can subpeona the information if they really get picky.

And its not intended to break the law.

I found another way…I use Vonage for my phone service. You can buy a “virutal” number form them for $4.95 per month. I tried calling to see if they would give any information out about the owner of the number, and they absolutely would not!
So that is the number I’m using on my signs!!

Do you use vonage’s 800 or local number ?

I never use an 800 number for sellers. I use only local numbers. That way they feel like they are dealing on a more personal level. 800# for buyers, yes. 800 # for sellers…no way!
