I don’t have a dishwasher nor do I need one. I am going to update my kitchen and and would like to know if a dishwasher will add to my appraisel if I refi or sell?
Having a dishwasher will defiantly increase the market of people that would be willing to buy your home. To some people it is an important feature to have. For how inexpensive you can buy them I have found you get a great return on having one for resale purposes.
For the cost I think its definitely a justified expense.
I would have to remodel my whole kitchen to get one. There is not any room so I would have to get one of the ovens that go into the wall to create room for the dishwasher.
Well you had us thinking it was a $400 expense to get a dishwasher in there not a complete demo. You should give us all the facts next time, might get you the answers you need quicker.
If your market prefers an updated kitchen (most do) then go ahead and remodel it. I know a lot of new home developers for people of all income levels and they would never consider building a home in 2006 without a dishwasher. Your kitchen may be outdated anyway if it doesn’t have a dishwasher. When you sell your house, you will be competing with brand new construction full of modern conveinences.
I was thinking the same thing. It sounds to me like your kitchen is obsolete and will cause you problems when you sell. You should look at updating your kitchen before you put it on the market. In my opinion I would update it now and enjoy it while I still live there. But at least update it before you try to sell it.
By the way, I have 2 dishwashers in my house. You would be amazed how fast the clean up goes after a big party with 2 dishwashers and I never have dishes in the sink or sitting around the house waiting to be washed.
You’re not so cool…I have 2 dishwashers as well. Sadly they are myself and my girlfriend.
I’ll never be so lazy that I can’t tell the kids to get up and do the dishes!!!
LOL

what you guys don’t use disposable plates and cups?
get with the times!!!
Do you have a clear space along a wall in the kitchen? If so, then simply get a standalone model. A bit more expensive than traditional because the “counter” is already built on the machine, but still better than not having on at all.

Raj,
No I do not have a clear space for it. If I do get one, I will have to move the stove. I don’t have to do it but I think I will remodel the kitchen. I am going to be in the house for a few years so I might as well make it my dream house or as close as I can get it.
