Is the option consideration payment same as the downpayment?
Theoretically - yes
Technically - no
No, the option payment is simply the fee which gives you the right but not the obligation (option) to purchase the property in the future. In legalese the option fee is the consideration and in return you receive the option to purchase. A down payment on the other hand goes toward the actual purchase of the property and should be considered a separate transaction. Having said this I think many L/O practitioners co-mingle the terms to simplify the transaction for their buyers.
