I was just wondering how valuable forum and blog links. I’m starting to wonder whether they carry much SEO weight. Can anyone honestly say that they’ve noticed a difference using these types of links?
It is just one small piece of a vary large puzzle.
Many blog comments and forum posts that you place links will be “No-Follow” links. This means that google will not consider those as backlinks.
I have heard that it still helps though so I would continue to do it. It also is a great way to boost traffic to your site and that will also help your SEO.
Whether you are trying to up your organic rankings in google or get more direct traffic to your site or blog, then forum posting is a good idea.
If you’re just starting a site that has useful information, then you’ve got to get the word out somehow. Consider posting useful comments on sites/forums/blogs as a form of free advertising.
If you provide useful answers there, then there’s a good chance that people will want to see what you have to say on your site as well.
I have to agree with what was said earlier. Successful marketing is made of many different pieces. One of which is internet presence and use of Forum and Blog links. While it may not be your major source of business or carry a lot of SEO weight, every little bit helps.
