How to look for property?

I am wondering what does one look for in a property while driving nieghborhoods?
Do you look for tall grass, newspapers laying around or what?
Just curios if there is something that I do not see.

high grass, piled up newspapers, boardups, missing meters, mail piling up in mail box, winterized stickers, broken windows, no furniture in the house, junk in yard, etc, etc, etc…

what about the counties condemned vacant properties and Abatement reports?

Notices of violation up on the front door or front of the house from the city. These violations are typically costly and they tend to move people along in wanting to get rid of their home.

I agree with what has been said already. I would also add looking for “For Rent” signs on the property. If it is vacant you could have a potential deal.
