How can I make sure owner is making mortgage payments?

I’m getting ready to put a down on a lease with option to buy. How can I make sure that the owner is making the mortgage payments?

Make them yourself and then make a check out to the landlord/owner for the difference. Easiest way that I know.

If not that, ask the owner for the number to the bank so that you can verify the payments are being made. If you have a professionally drafted agreement, this statement may even be in your lease that you have the right to confirm mortgage payments.
