Honda announced that they are building a new plant just outside Indianapolis in 2008 that will empoly 2,000 people. In addition John Sullivan, director of Purdue University’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing, predicted it could bring with it over 3,000 related jobs and even more unrelated. Most of the part suppliers are in Indianapolis so this will be better economics and housing needs for the entire region. The Toyota plant is doing wonders for Austin, Texas. The same will be true of Indianapolis and the surrounding region.
Best regards,
I think its great for Indiana but I don’t know how much of a direct impact it will have on Indianapolis. Honda is planning to build near Greensburg if i remember the june announcement. That is around one hour away from Indy.
I haven’t looked closely at Indy, but I’ve always liked that city. The cost of living is very reasonable, it has pretty good size, and plenty of through traffic from the trucking industry. There may be some opportunity there but you’d need to do some thorough research.
If the plant is an hour away from Indy, I’d look at thing closer to the plant vs. close to Indy.
