You say Chicago, burbs or city proper? If City, where at? Suburbs, which one?
The reason I ask is because contractors tend to be localized. Are you looking for a GC or specific Subs and you will be GC?
Have you been to a local rei club? Lots of good referrals to be had at those.

My property is in the city. This is my first rehabb. I work full time in the suburbs, so I don’t have time to supervise the rehabbing process. This is a stupid questions, but I think I better ask then confuse.
If I hire general contractor, are they the one who is going to hire sub contractors?
Will general contractor cover everything (Plumbing. electrical, kitchen remodelling)?
What is the average fee to hire a general contractor?
Who buy the materials?
Please advise me with my current situation, should I hire a General Contractor or should I be the general contractor (hire a handyman as supervisor) and then hire subs contractor.

Yes a GC is just that the General. The run the process for you and hire any subs they need (Plumbing, Electric, etc).
