Hardboard siding

How much is hardboard siding and where would I get it. I have an investment property that is around 30% hardboard and the rest is brick. I was hoping I could replace the hardboard for less than 1K.

Thanks

Do you mean T-111 siding? Basically is like plywood with vertical stripes every foot or so? I think its about $40/sheet. See your local home depot or lowes.

A search for hardboard siding yields many entries about class action lawsuits against companies regarding masonite siding. Is this what you have?

If you are going to replace all the siding, then either cement board or cedar siding are your good options.

There is a pressed wood fiber siding that looks nice, but I wouldn’t use it on a house I planned to keep. It can occassionally have problems with moisture-- which isn’t the very best thing for exterior products.

T-111 seems to hold up really well, but it’s not cheap like it used to be, and it doesn’t look as good as real wood siding. Althought some really expensive houses here have T-111 and then batts are nailed over every groove to make it look like cabin style cedar siding. That looks pretty good.

And of course T-111 will require paint every few years.
