Grants

Wondering if anyone out there has tried using grants to start or continute their RE carree?

There seems to be a lot of commercials and I have gotten a lot of e-mails outlining the grants for starting new businesses and buying real estate and I was wondering if anyone has tried using them.

Rick

i have tried using the grants and the money is available. Don’t buy to much into those commercials and emails. You can find out about the grants and the dcriteria by going to your local library and best of all it is FREE. They have a list of private, federal, and state organizations that will rpovide you with money to rehab, acquisitions of real estate, as well as training. Please let me know if I can further assist you with any more questions.

I have done a lot of research on Grants for Real Estate at the Federal, State, and Local levels. All I have been able to find are Grants for minorities, low income, must rent to the elderly or handicaped, or distressed properties.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

There are a handful of non-profit organizations that offer DPA (down payment assistance) grants that can be used on mixed use and 5+ apt buildings.

In addition, your local HFA (Housing Finance Agency) might offer something; I am aware of a rehab grant be offered by CT’s HFA.

Finding a grant is only half the battle, having a lender that accepts them is often the rub.

There are no such grants in Wichita, KS or Kansas except for home owners in community development areas making repairs to their properties.
