Good business name?? Need help

I’ve been investing full time for three years now. I feel it’s now time to form a business enity. My main business is buying properties for resell - Real Estate Dealer.

I speak decent Spanish and my wife is from Mexico, so most of my customers are hispanic.

I’ve registered a few domain names and want to have my business name the same, but can not decide on a good name.

I like “House Buyers” or something like that, but all dot com(s) with “buyer” are taken. I stated substituting Casa for House. Most everyone here in Texas knows "casa means house - right?

I’ve registered the following:
CasaTuya.com (means ‘your house’ in spanish. I’ve been using this one, but always have to spell it for the gringos over the phone, sounds like casa to ya

CasaInvestors.com, CasaInvestor.com (like it, but seems too long)

CasaTraders.com (not sure)

Casanomics.com You know NOMICS (greek for manage - I think ???)

CasaDealer.com, CasaDealers.com (looks like “casa de aler” and we often associate “dealer” with cars.

ShackBuyers.com ShackBuyer.com ( I buy lots of shacks! but name seems too negative for a formal business name?)

Any of those sound good to you? I went ahead and registered the names because one name I was thinking about was gone by the time I decided to register it. ?? I guess someone was reading my mind!

I mightseem a little too picky, but I don’t want to print cards, signs, get phone listed, file a DBA and LLC, only to hear later that my name sounds stupid. Any good ideas?

Thanks.

I’m in a similar boat. I’ve got 5 businesses and I almost always end up changing or wanting to change the name years later.

For my real estate business I thought it would be good to have homebuyers in the name. Well, what about if I want to generate leads without blurting out that I want to buy their house? Kind of hard with a name like ABC Home Buyers, Inc.

So yup, I’m changing it to a more generic name that works if I’m generating leads, buying, selling, lending, or looking for money. A good generic name might also help throw people off when I have to put my company name on a recorded document. It’s been suggested that having a name that implies lending will help in certain circumstances.

You can always get Doing Business As names for marketing purposes.

Ward Hanigan has an interesting article on his web site at:

I hope it helps.

Thanks for the help. The above mentioned article really did’nt do much for me, but thanks anyway.

I want a cool sounding business name. Thing is - people call me and always ask - what company are you with - homevestors??

Answer: ah, well - I’m a private investor, not homevestors.

Any additional comments is appreciated.

I haven’t started my company yet, but I am having trouble finding a good name as well. I thought about HOTHOUSE or some like that with flames and stuff I figured that would draw attention to my truck, but I googled hothouse and, well, lets just say that nude firemen already have that domain. I want something that says that I buy homes fast, fast cash, you know what I mean.

That’s the thing for me too - don’t want to invest in vehivle display, etc. - then change my mind.

I will probably just decide on a domain that I’ve already registered. Something with “casa” - unless - I just think of something better in the next few days.

Thanks for the help

Think about what you will be doing?

Is all you are going to be doing is BUYING real estate? Will you be selling your fixed up real estate? If so, do you want to be known as blank BUYERS?

Do you need a name that conveys what you do because you will be buying mainly from sellers directly or does it matter that much because you’ll primarily be buying REOs?

Examples without the word buyer in them:

Property Solutions
Property Finders
Jay Jay Properties
Jay Jay Real Estate
Property Investments
CashNow (hope you don’t mind, $Cash$. I just think that it’s great :))

Raj-

Good advise. However, I’d like something that’s availabe as a domain .com,

What do you think?

Your domain name doesn’t have to be your business name.

Besides, practically all of the “I buy” and “sell your house” stuff is taken anyway, so it’s going to be next to impossible to find something with that in it unless you find an inactive site and can buy the name.

Another possible solution though is NOT to go with a .com. Now you can get a .net or a .biz site as well. Hey, there’s probably others, but I’m not that up on it.

Raj

That’s my problem. I do want the domain to be my business name.

It probably does not matter anyway. What do you thing about Casa Investors ? That’s what I’ve got now.

About to spend money on signs, cards and all the other stuff, thus the reason for asking your opinion.

I just bought a property with the intention of opening a small car lot, plus have my we buy houses offive there too.

I plan to call my lot autotrove.com

Thanks for the help

Works for me, if it works for you, Bighat.

Your biz name has to be something that you won’t mind using for awhile. Sure, you can get an assumed name/DBA license and change it that way later, if needed, but you still want one you like.

Just an opinion, but the ‘we buy houses’ office should be changed to the ‘avoid foreclosure’ office or the ‘sell your house fast’ office or the like.

The problem that I have with the ‘we buy’ and the ‘investors’ ‘homebuyers’ etc in your title/name/advertising is that it tells the people what YOU do, but it doesn’t tell the people what you can do FOR THEM.

Effective advertising always focuses on what is in it for the customer, what the company can do for the customer. Not what the company does.

I am naming mine as [Last Name] Realty Services, LLC with www.[Last Name]Properties.com

Buyers won’t really care what you name it as long as it is something they remember to call. Which making me think about changing my website’s domain to something else since my last name is hard to spell/remember :-\

The right name helps but the branding is as equal or more important.IMHO

The company name doesn’t have to do with what you do as long as it is easy to remember and you like it. You can always come up with a DBA if you like in the future.

For example,

amazon.com ← a book store?
yahoo.com ← a search engine?

I am not saying it is easy, just got to try and figure out what you can live with. Your marketing message and/or slogan can explain what your company does to the consumers.

DBA = Doing Business As. you can register many DBAs
