How would I go about getting real estate lawyers to draft contracts? I need real estate contracts like option to purchase agreements, assignment contracts, and whatever contracts I need to perform "subject to"transactions. I was going to spend money on those “do it yourself” contracts I can download from findlegalforms.com, but I am having second thought if they are as reliable as they say they are. Would I have to keep paying the lawyer to draft every contract I use per deal? How would that work exactly? I contacted a lawyer about this, but I haven’t heard back from him.
You should be able to get contracts (or the necessary information to fill in the blanks a certain way) for different types of transactions from a RE lawyer. Just make copies and use them over and over again on future deals. No reason to pay the lawyer to draft new contracts each time. You can fill in the info. If you’re going to use that lawyer for closings, they may just give you the contracts.
An attorney is going to charge you hundreds of dollars at the least to pull some contracts out of his drawer. If he isn’t a real estate investor himself the contracts may not even suit your needs.
On the other end are the generic ones such as the downloadable ones you mentioned.
I don’t know what kinds of deals you’re doing, but as far as lease options and rent-to-own deals go, for $97 you can’t do any better than Carbonare’s package over at The Naked Investor.
Thanks. I don’t know much about picking lawyers to do closings. I was going to choose any real estate attorney to do closings or even have a title company to do closings which ever is better.
Why they charge that much just to pull some papers from the file drawer? The lawyer did say, however, that the forms over at that findlegalforms.com are good to use, but they need to be edited by an actual lawyer because those do it yourself forms come from unrepresented individuals which is what he was telling me. If that is the case then, how does the lawyer edit the forms? Like through email attachments in Microsoft Word format or somehow edit them in hard copy format? And is this Carbonare person really a reliable source as you say he is?
it should be done with contracts to lawyers.
Why they charge that much just to pull some papers from the file drawer?Law school was expensive.
The lawyer did say, however, that the forms over at that findlegalforms.com are good to use, but they need to be edited by an actual lawyer. . .Fast, easy $$ for the attorney.
And is this Carbonare person really a reliable source as you say he is?I think so, but you'll have to decide for yourself. I've used his agreements for years, as have quite a few other investors I know, and they have always served their purpose.
What state are you in, by the way?
I’m in Alabama. Fast, easy money, sounds like a rip off to me. Do these forms really need to be edited by a lawyer because I looked at the forms and everything on those forms seem to be all I need for the transactions I am trying to do?I am interested in doing wholesale deals and subject to/get the deed deals.
lawyers should help provide resolution mutually acceptable to you and another party
