General Contractor vs Individual trades

I’m looking at purchasing a fixer upper an hour from where I live, I work full time. My position is project management/getting stuff done by other people.

What should I consider when deciding to use a General Contractor, individual tradespeople, or a combination of these?

From what I understand, there would be a price difference for individual tradespeople, but even though contractors are more $, they take out some of the hassle.

What are your thoughts on this?

I would recommend you hire and use a general contractor to do your property, they will cost you 20% more than direct cost of construction but will save you time, money and hassles in the long run!
