Does anyone know of any websites that have free credit checks for potential tenants?
If so can you please let me know?
Thanks,

I’m gonna bet that you’ll find darned few for free…
The one I use is relatively cheap but not free…
Keith
Which one do you use? And how much is it?
I use www.tenantcredit.com. Contact them for rates as they provide a wide range of reports and services.

Let us know if you ever find one. I don’t think there’s any such thing unless it’s part of some promotion.
Experian, Trans-Union and Equifax stay in business by selling credit reports. If they were ever free, they’d all probably go out of business. I don’t think they much like giving out your credit report for free but it’s the law in most states and I think the federal law on that should be kicking in or has already kicked in. At least they can still charge you for your credit score.
If you really want it free, tell your tenants to pull it themselves, they’re supposed to be entitled to one every year. Course it’ll take a little while for it to come to them in the mail although some of them will let you view it online.
If you are a member of the Landlord Protection Agency you can do credit checks on prospective tenants through them. Cost is $25, which you charge the tenant as part of their application fee. The LPA has lots of other services, support, forms etc. A great resource if you’re starting out as a landlord. See:
You should be able to do better than $25 a credit check. A couple other places to check out is mrlandlord.com and the tenant network at ntnnet.com. The latter is good if there’s a local office in your state. I think those credit reports range from $9-$10, but they do have other features such as criminal background, eviction search and all those could push it up to $25-$30.
