You DO NOT have a nice return on your investment. You DO NOT have ANY return on your investment. Unless you’ve sold your Ford stock, all you have is numbers on a page - much like all those people that thought their house was worth a fortune in 2005 or people that thought their stock market portfolios had made them rich while the market was at a high. It was all an illusion. To actually get the nice return, you’ve got to sell and REALIZE the profit.

I’m not picking on FDJake, but I want to keep it real. I realize this post was a joke, but all of his predictions are NOT coming true. In fact, the one trade that is about to be completed is the QQQQ $16 Puts which are about to expire worthless. If I recall the numbers correctly, that will be about a $40,000 loss! FDJake is betting big - he may win big or he may lose big.
If you hold the Ford stock for the long term, you may win big, but IMO it is just as likely that the economy will get much worse and Ford will follow GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy. In fact, if GM and Chrysler are able to successfully complete bankruptcies, they will have a competitive advantage over Ford as many of their debts are severly reduced. If Ford is eventually forced into bankruptcy, the stock will be worthless and you’ll lose every penny you have in the trade.
In the great depression, the market dropped in 1929, then improved (which is where we are now), then did a slow grind to the bottom in about 1933.
All I’m saying is to be careful and consider all the alternatives and have an exit strategy.
Be sure and post your prices and the amount of shares or contracts you short.
Do you even OWN any Ford stock??? If so…HOW MUCH and at WHAT PRICE??? Let’s ALL lay it on the table… shall we??? I can’t find a single post telling anyone when or at what price you bought Ford stock. That loss on the Q’s is there…No doubt about that…BUT…couple that with 4 Real Estate deals so far 09, and some profits I’ll take on the 20,000 shares of Goodyear I purchased at $5.44/share…on OCTOBER 17th 2008 (check the past posts)

Yeah maybe with this huge upshot you might be able to short it at the peak and make a few bucks when some people take profits but you better have automatic trades in place to cover your positions or sit there and watch the monitor all day so you don’t miss the boat.
I quite posting them when people wouldn’t follow the parameters you suggested and post in real time with the number of shares and prices. All people were posting were their winning trades AFTER THE FACT and I’m just not gullible enough to believe that these people only have winning trades. I’ve been trading for over 10 years and I know for a fact that no-one only has winning trades.
I’m still trading. I made some money on AA, BOA, and ACI covered calls. Everything was called out in April except my May ACI covered calls. I’m not buying anything with the market at this level - I think the market will move lower from here and I believe the high end of this move is no higher than DOW 8,500.
I am shorting Ford today. I have an order in to short 200 shares at $5.65. I know that it’s not hundreds of thousands of dollars. On the other hand, I am not about to lose $40,000. I trade as a hobby and I’m only trading about $20,000 right now.
I don’t own ANY Ford stock right now. If you looked at my previous Ford trade that I posted, I bought at $2.10 and made $1.90 or something like that (almost a double). Again, that was a small number of shares (500 as I recall).

I’m not short Ford yet, but I have my order in to short it at $5.65. The short term up-side risk is minimal and the downside potential is significant. My plan is to sell short at $5.65 and buy it back at $3.65. I don’t sit by the computer all day, I put in the trades in the morning and then put in stops.

O.K. I’ve bought my first stock. I bought 100 shares of Ford today at $5.3598 at 11:15 a.m. This is a long term investment that I plan to add to over time. I want to thank FDJAKE for the idea and updates. However, I’m learning how to do my own homework myself. It’s a lot of work and time consuming but its worth it. It feels good to have some skin in the game!
