I have my eye on an ugly house with a flat roof. It has virtually no curb appeal, but I have a gut feeling something could be done to improve it. So far I haven’t come up with a tangible and/or inexpensive, so I’m just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with flat roof houses and improving their curb appeal.
We have a house with a flat roof and are in the same situation. Since we are just renting it we are keeping at is but we do plan on looking into changing it. The inside is really cute though. Usually landscaping and cleaning the front will help out a lot.
Flat roofs= cheap look, more leaks, lot more expensive to reroof
Also will not get a return on cost if you try to add a regular roof. But if I had one would look into a cape cod roof which would not cost that much more but gives you a roof and another 1/2 story for sq. ft. then maybe get return
I own a flat roof rental. When I purchased it six years ago I had a vinyl membrane roof put on it and it is guaranteed for 20 years. No problems yet and the tenants are not allowed on it for any reason. I will have to agree with Jatowi. Landscaping and a nice interior should draw people away from the flat roof. Put the focus on what is there, not what isn’t. Any ugly property purchased right and cleaned up should yield a profit.
