I am attending my first REI club meeting tonight. The speaker is a local title company. This group has been around here for years and have over 100 members. The newsletters on their website mainly focuses on long term rentals, but it also has things on a lot of different strategies, which I liked. I am just paying the $20 for one meeting, and if I like it, I will join as a full member. I want to make sure it’s a good fit for me. I just want to get more into my local market. Also going to look for various professionals to add to my team, and to network with other investors. Any comments or advice is appreciated. I will admit. I have no idea what to expect.
Regards, Tony.
Tony,
I know that you know most of this but:
- Pay attention.
- Network
- Give out business cards
- Find like-minded people
- Watch to see who the ‘power players’ are
- Take anything free (no not the silverware!)
- Be yourself
- Have fun
Keith
Hi Tony,
This sounds like the Wayne REIA. I’ve been a member for 2 1/2 years. It’s an awesome group, not out to get your last dollar, truly intetested on your success. In fact they only allow 1 or 2 national speakers a year, the rest are locals who can help you build your business.
You should definitely come early to the pre-meeting–starts about 6:00. Often that is the best part where you can ask any questions. A lot of folks have a quick dinner after, or just stay in the room to network.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Kim
Thanks Keith and Kim…and Kim, that is the one I am going to, look forward to meeting you and the others there. I have heard and read a lot of good things about that club. Thanks again.
Regards, Tony.
