Finding out who owns a house that's abandoned?

I’m new to real estate so any help is appreciated.

There’s a home outside of Houston that was for sale by owner about a year ago (650k) and it’s pretty much been abandoned for the last year and no one has lived there and it’s been neglected to say the least. There’s no sign and I can’t find out who owns it.

I tried checking out the Harris Country Appraisal website (Houston) and it’s got an owner listed but I can’t any information on her. There’s also an old web posting of the owner and she has a name listed with 2 phone numbers and both are abandoned contact info.

I assume it’s got a lien against it or the bank owns it now but there’s no signs anywhere and the neighbors don’t know anything about it.

Any suggestions?

Check the Real Property website for Harris county, should be part of the co clerks page. Search for the addy and time frame. This’ll uncover all docs filed of record w/ the county and the lien holders will all be noted along w/ the file # for U to further dig for intel. The home is likely now a REO. U’ll deal w/ a quagmire in terms of getting thru to those whom care to speak to U about it, or much less bring U up2speed on what it’ll take @ contract it. There r TONS of RE in that area just rotting away in the name of lenders awaiting a bailout bigger than the RTC deals of the 70 & 80s. Best of luck on your deal. This ad and pictures are nothing what the home looks like now. Not only has it been neglected but it’s been abused as well so whoever lived there were very rough on exterior and interior.

i’ll check the Real Property website for Harris county and see what i can find. Seems like if the bank owns it they’d want to get rid of it since it’s been siting for over a year and the condition it’s in is very rough.

Is there a vacant lot or maybe a park or playground to the left of the property? Pool?

Looks like it from google earth but no there’s not. There’s a house on each side but each house has a few acreas. One house beside it has a little pond behind their house i’m pretty sure.
Can’t really find anything on the county clerks site.

A the Real Prop home page u should b able to search by addy and rime frame, the results should give u a large scrollable page w/ all your intel. Look closely @ the entries and u will find the parties to the recorded docs noted left to right. There is where you’ll find the names of owners/lienholders etc.
