escrow question

Hello people:

I closed on my first rental propeeties in June '04. On one property there was a $3,000 escrow holdback held against the seller for some outstanding license and inspection lien. I cannot get the local L & I to identify any violations. Today I recieved a letter from title company stating that unless they heard differently from me they were going to release this $3,000 to the seller. Any directions here? Is there a time limit to release these funds to me?

I am not familiar with the license and inspection lien. What state are you in, NY or Ca. It would be the seller’s money if the lien has already been satisfied. It would go the the City ? if it has not been paid. I do not see how you could be entitled to the funds unless you paid the lien
