Equifax Or anyother source For preforclosures?

I have been researching ways of finding people that are 1 or 2 months behind on their payments, before all the competition starts. I spoke with equfax and it can be very exspensive for a credit snap shot of a county. Anyone know of anyother ways to find late payers before properties go into lis pendens?
