So I have just bought a used dishwasher for my first rental. I tested it last night and it is working. The problem is that it doesn’t have the external padding that reduces noise (that padding that usually goes around the dishwasher). I am not sure if this model doesn’t have one or if it was missing.
The dishwasher is very noisy. I was wondering if you think it would be worth the trouble to get one and install it. The kitchen is open to the great room and dining room (all one big space). So I thought that the tenants may become upset with the noise after they start living in the house.
I have two options - leave it the way it is and wait and fix it when/if they complain about the noise. Or I can fix it now when it is easier because I haven’t installed the dishwasher yet.
Think of the grade of property and the tenants who will rent it. Our apartment tenants would love to even have a dishwasher, but they can’t. We pay the water bill there.
If you can get the padding or use some other type of insulation around it that doesn’t cost much, then I would try to get some and install it. If it’s too hard or time consuming to track it down, I’d just put it in there as is.
Thank you, Justin. It is an average house (3bed/2bath) in an average neighborhood. I will check the price of padding at Home Depot and be on the lookout for an used pad if I can find it before the end of the rehab.
