Courthouse confusion...please help!!

i have been working on short sales but have gotten most of my leads from advertising or mailers. i would also like to research preforclosure candidates at the courthouse. i thought i knew where to go ,but couldn’t get any help. our county is auotmated…i went to the recorder’s office and they said they only get the judgement after it is dismissed. they sent me to sherrif sales, which i knew i didn’t want because i want it before it gets there…they sent me to clerk of courts. here i found that they do have the listings of judgements filed for mortgage defaults, but after talking to people who worked both in the paper files and in the computer database, they said you can only access them if you have either a name or a case number. i wanted to just look at all filed in the last 2 weeks - month…they said no way. i know it can be done…what am i missing? PLEASE HELP!

Have you tried lookin online in the clerk of the courts website or equivalent? Here in florida, at least in my county, its easy to access that data.

Have you tried your local newspaper? They are under legal notices every day. If they have a website…you don’t even have to leave home.

Our newspaper’s website will let you do a “search” in the classified archives for notices filed 2 weeks ago. Try that.
