I am negotiating a SS w/Countrywide. I offered $50K and they just came back and countered saying $98K because this was the appraisal. Does anyone know how firm Countrywide stands on their offers and typically how much they are willing to lose? Just looking for someone who may have dealt with them. I have a couple of days to counteroffer.

What are the homes selling for in that area. All in all it doesn’t really matter, if that was your first, send another. Go up maybe 5 grand. Also on this offer see if you can dig up some negative information about the area. Job losses, crime, anything bad. Have your agent print up expired listings that are comparable to yours and highlight how long they were on the market and didn’t sell.
