contractor contract

Hello,
Im in contract on a beutiful home in san francisco.
Im deciding whether or not to use a general.

1. what should my contract look ike for the work I want him to perform? I do not want to leave out descriptions clauses etc.

 1. How detailed does the description of the work need to be. Bathrrom tile, fixtures, etc. I have some rehabbing experience using subs, so i would have made these decisions.

 2. This contractor has a good reputation. he is not cheap, but has a lot of bath, kitchen ecperience. Can I trust him to decide what midgrade means, etc. How much detail do I need to put in, or can it be an evolving process where we pick out materials together?

Any help would be appreciated. A standard contract would be really appreciated. Thanks All

midgrade to donald trump is a $3500 toilet. If you do not tell this guy EXACTLY what product you want …take what you get!
