Recently I called an ad in the paper that was selling an apt. bldg. A man takes my call and answers my inquiry about the complex. I go to visit today and I see a realtors sign in the front yard. Is this odd that I seemed to be talking to the owner on the phone, then when I get there there’s a Realtor’s sign?
Is it possible that the owner is trying to sell it separately from the Real Estate Company?
A couple of things are possible. The owner could be the REALTOR®, the owner could know the REALTOR® personally, the owner could have a non-exclusive listing in which dual marketing would not be an issue, or the owner could simply prefer to speak with potential buyers himself rather than the REALTOR®.
Thanks JL. If it was you (or any other readers), would you call the number in the ad or the number on the realtor sign?
The number in the ad; but I would ask about the REALTOR® sign. If it is a non-exclusive listing I would then start asking for the seller to pay a portion if not all of my closing costs because he’s saving 6% by dealing with me directly.
