How does one become a commercial real estate agent? Is it more difficult than becoming a residential agent? It seems there is a lot more money to be made in commercial as well. If you do become a res or commercial agent, can you buy the properties within your firm? Are there any legal blocks to do so?
Commercial agents don’t have a different license. You practice in commercial real estate simply by doing commercial deals once you have your license. There’s no training except what a broker may provide or if there are MCE classes that can teach you more.
Top commercial agents get their CCIM designation, which provides the resources and knowledge for doing very well in the business. It’s probably one of the highest regarded designations in the industry, but only because of it’s difficulty.
