Has anyone heard of Chuck Smith. I just read his book. He is a retired cop who made it big in real estate. He has this group called the Professional Real Estate Investors Group that for a fee($7,000) acts as a mentor to someone who is looking to get into real estate investing. They say that they have their own in house financing and they will work with me and help me find deals for 1 year. They guarantee me to doubel my investment on the first real estate deal. Just wondering if any of you out there has heard of this group and wondering if they are ligit. I am extremely skeptical.
ps/ I forgot to mention that I am a rookie and just trying to educate myself in real estate.
Thanks for your time,
Steve Everett
Hi, Steve!
I did a search in the archives here, but nothing turned up on Chuck Smith.
There were some references to him on other boards. The opinions were mixed. Google him and you will see what I mean. For example, check out this link:

$7,000 sounds pretty high to me for someone just starting out, but that is just my opinion. If his teaching overcomes something that is holding you back from doing deals, then it might not be expensive at all. Only you can determine that, however.
You can get a lot of good education in real estate without spending any where near this amount of money. This site, for example. Or your local library. Try these avenues first and conserve your capital. Actually do a few deals and make some money. If real estate is investing is still for you after doing this, then you might want to consider the more expensive programs, if you think that you still need them. But I would let your real estate profits fund your further education. Avoid becoming a seminar junkie who never makes any offers.
Best of luck to you!
Thanks for the advice. I really do appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Steve Everett
I think chuck smith is completely legit.
