Checking out the company/person you want to be partners with

I’m trying to get into real estate investing. I met someone at a RE meeting that says he will help me out. He has his own company but it is not on the BBB. I met with him and his wife and they seem really nice and knowledgeable.

I’m just wondering how you go about checking someone out to see if they are on the up and up without offending them.

I have money in my retirement account that he says I can move to a self directed IRA and use for investing. In the meantime I told him I can do some birddogging for him and in turn he will help me learn the business.

Thanks

It would be helpful to know what it is that you’re thinking about giving him and in exchange for what. What is it that he’s offering that appeals to you? Once you know what that is, you can tell if he’s going to be able to deliver because you can research it.

For example, if he says he’s done deals, you can easily see online the flow of transactions for any property.

I have easy access to property data in Georgia, so if you would like help, send me a private message. I will do whatever I can to help you ensure that you don’t get ripped off.
