CELL PHONE NO-CALL LIST

Hey,
You may not know it but soon solicitors will start calling your cell phone and using up your minutes and making you pay for the incoming calls. You can get on the national no-call list (for your cell or other phones) by calling 888-382-1222.
Peace (from telephone solicitors),
Richard

Nice heads up, Richard. I think that it is ridiculous that they are going to allow solicitor’s to call your cell. Can we not find peace anywhere?

I was at a hotel over the weekend and I received a call in my room from Domino’s wanting to know if I wanted a pizza! :bash:

It isn’t safe anywhere!

This is an urban legend.

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2005/04/dnc.htm

“If you’ve received an e-mail telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database, rest assured that this is not the case. Telemarketing to cell phone numbers has always been illegal in most cases and will continue to be so…”

Hey,
Got in info from the e-newsletter “The Everyday Cheapskate” today which also was in today’s local newspaper as a syndicated column. If you can’t believe the news media who can you believe? ???
Peace,
Richard

We all know that the news media is controlled by the government! 8)

Lord have Mercy, Whine, whine whine.

Most of you don’t use all your cell minutes anyway and the ones that go over can afford a few more.

Solicitation calls can bring out your creative side.
Here are some responses if you get a solicitor on your cell.

  1. Is this something to kill the time while you’re looking for a real job?

  2. NO … SPEAK… ENGLISH… OK???

My favorite.
3. So, What are you wearing? No really… tell me… I have to know before I hear your canned speech.

  1. What a coincidence. I sell long distance too! I’ll buy yours if you buy mine.

Got anymore?

I don’t think it’s a matter of us “using up all of our minutes”, I think the reason this isn’t good is because you pay for daytime or roaming minutes. Once you go over, then you’re paying pretty ridiculous fees. I had a $600 bill last month for going over on my plan, which had 2000 minutes. I wouldn’t have been pleased if some telemarketer had called during that time.

I’ve also been getting spam text messages, which also seems like there should be something against it because most phone plans charge extra for text messaging.

For everyone going over their minutes i have a program that gives you UNLIMITED minutes for $59.99…If you are in the D.C. area. After Cingular cancelled their Unlimited plan I was going over my minutes all the time not anymore.

Actually, unless they pay my cell bill…I have a right to “whine”.

I’ll tell you what’s worse. People who have L O N G winded greetings or people who play their favorite song on their voice mail greeting. Now that wastes minutes.

Took me awhile but now I know that pressing # bypasses long messages.

Not in New Jersey, they are passing laws against smoking in your car.

The “Peoples’ Republic of New Jersey”.

most newspapers dont check for accuracy of the story. only if the
story is news-worthy!

That is funny I ask everyone that calls what they are wearing!
