Cat Odor

Does anyone have any experience with getting rid of a serious problem with cat urine smell? I have a 3/1 sfh built in 1906 that I’ve not been able to get the cat urine smell out of. I’ve removed the carpet and pad, treated the entire house with tsp and odor-X-it. That still didn’t do it. I then treated the house with bleach. We looked in the heating ducts and they don’t seem to be the problem. The floor is old tounge and grove flooring and the urine has gone through the floor boards and has run down the floor joists in many spots. We are starting to remove some of the floor boards that are discolored but the smell persists.

The people at odor-X-it have told me to NOT use Kilz or a similar product as that will not seal in the odor and it will eventually stink when it gets humid.

I don’t want to remove the entire floor if I don’t have to but I don’t know what to do.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Brian

Hi Brian,

I’ve seen this addressed before on the reiclub forums.

Just do a search.

Best of luck,
