I will be happy to explain. In the days of actual slavery, the slave owners kept the slaves for their physical work. Today, the slave owners (socialists) keep the slaves for their vote. Today, they are not enslaved with a whip, they are enslaved with a handout (a very measley handout, at that). This handout discourages them from seeking work and encourages them to be lazy and irresponsible. Since they don’t have a work ethic, a shamefully high percentage turn to dealing drugs to make a few extra bucks and subsequently end up in prison. They are enslaved into poverty by the very socialists that claim to be helping them. Additionally, the left’s anti-family message from the past few decades along with monetary incentives to abandon the family structure have contributed to destroying the black family in the USA.
As I said earlier, this is no longer limited to the african american community. We now have multiple generations of poor white trash that are similarly enslaved and the socialists are currently working on enslaving illegal immigrants from Mexico.
Now you can explain how the problems in the black community go a lot further than the socialist policies.
The civil rights marches were what? 40 yrs ago. Black ppl have been second class citizens for hundreds of years, denied education, told they are inferior and basically oppressed. Integration comes around and culminates in the civil rights marches and on PAPER black ppl are now equal.
After civil rights where did those people that hate black ppl go??? Nowhere they still hate black folks!!! What would happen when a black unskilled worker goes by their business to find a job??? The black guy wouldn’t GET ONE!!! So black guy gets a crappy job and swears his kids are gonna end up better than him. There are quite a few black fathers/mothers like this, but its been 40 years!!! Its gonna take more time for the hard working black families to get out of the hood. So for these hard workers born ridiculously poor, scholarships and social assistance make a world of difference. So now we have stories of tons of black people who grew up poor and are now finacially successful. Many would not have been able to leave the hood if not for social assistance.
But then you got the lazy black guy recruited by drug dealers, running for the quick buck, got 10 baby mommas and doesn’t want to pay for child support. Pretty much a useless bum and the kids he fathers don’t stand much of a chance, because the mothers that would go for guys like this dont normally become great mothers. They need to get their act together and should NOT be allowed to live for free, they will just keep repeating this cycle, exactly what’s happening now. I remember in high school a fifteen year old girl brought her baby to school and she and 4 of her friends were PROUD, of course realizing she could get government assistance now…I was so disgusted at the time. This second group deserves NO ASSISTANCE WHATSOEVER.
Welfare served a purpose as far as a transition phase goes, but its time poor folks get weaned off of it. It should only exist for the VERY small percentage of people that actually need it. I don’t agree with it being totally removed, hard workers with ambition deserve the help, they can’t help what they were born into.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately, that is the opposite direction that Obama and his fellow socialists are taking this country. They want MORE people enslaved by handouts because they want the votes. That’s why the socialists are trying to get representation for Washington D.C. in congress; trying to get the vote for felons; and trying to make Puerto Rico a state (the first step is being voted on today).

The problem with the Black community is exactly because of the socialist welfare system. What it did was make men optional in the household. A woman could now get money from the government which meant she did not have to have man in the house to “make ends meet” and all women know that if you have the option of putting up with a man’s bs and not…not is better.
Since that happened now we have 80% of Black kids are born out of wedlock and a woman can’t effectively raise a boy. So the men turn out to be large grown boys instead of men. A people that is manless turns out like the Black community has turned out. It all stemmed from welfare Democrat, Republican, or whatever the socialist policy is what caused it.
The people my son contacts don’t mold him. I believe it is important to interact with various people so that you understand how to deal with them but he is molded by me.
I told this story before but when I was about 16 or 17 my dad sent me to collect the rent from one of his apartment units. When I go there this lady tenant invited me in. She was wearing a slinky night gown and was genetically gifted physically. She basically offered barter for the rent. I had to figure out how to come out of there with cash money. When I got home with the rent my dad just smiled at me.
That interaction taught me a lesson. It did not mold me or make me a leach, but it was an important lesson.
She was not from my village.

Oh there is no doubt that I am out of my feaking mind. You never hear me say I am not But that is a subject for another thread. I also don’t say that I m not who I am because of my interactions but they don’t mold me. I was molded by my mom and dad, not Calvin Moore that grew up down the street. Almost everybody I grew up with is dead or in jail. I am not because I learned to deal with them not be molded by them.
What I have found out is that my son does more to mold the kids he comes into contact with than the other way around. You have to remember he is MY kid. Can you imagine listening to me all day everyday? How do you think you would have come out?

Most of the time you I enjoy reading your posts.
But children can’t help but be influenced by their peers. That is why peer pressure can be so devastating. It is our job as parents to be so far up their a** that we can see out their nostrils.
I know my wife and I keep our kids lives so full of activities that they don’t have time to breathe let alone get into trouble.
It costs us a small fortune but I would rather invest in their lives and activities now then make a good lawyer rich in the future. :shocked

I do agree that being involved with your kids is very effective.But that combined with the fear of having to “face the music” against you is best.I had the fear against my dad,but either way I turned out great,and my closest friends from then are in jail or dead.So this is how I’m raising my daughter.She knows not to cross me and I’m involved with her activities.We’re all just tryin our best,I think either of these are better than most kids in govt housing are getting.And for that I do blame big govt as Bluemoon said for stepping in and taking a father’s position.

Sell, to me welfare has run its course for black folks and the vast majority should be weaned off it. Not sure why you’re directing me to that guy, me and you are basically saying the same thing…
I just think ending those programs should be more gradual than sudden so it doesn’t snowball into other problems.
