Bush awards $6 million

Just read an article on the HUD website (Sept 29) saying that the administration has awarded $6 million in grants to hispanic-serving universities for community development.

What about our existing communities of low-income housing and it’s surrounding universities? Where is the $6 million to revitalize these areas? Is our country yet again hedging on segregation? Lets not forget about the $40 million already contributed to the cause.

I hate politics.

Is that not CRAP or what?!?!
Why can’t it just be an all around revitilization, for any community in desperate need.

I know this has gotten alot of views and no responses, i think people are affraid of making this a race war online (and by all means that is NOT why i responded).

I’m seeing a TOTAL segregation of people around where i live. I feel really bad for the people trapped in the middle. Cliques used to just be in high school… not anymore.

I sincerely hope i have not offended any of my fellow board members, as that was NOT my intent.

Perhaps giving a measly $6 million is an attempt to save face with the hispanic community after ridiculous “immigration reforms”. This is a typical act by this administration, very similar to the $2.1 billion in “faith- based initiatives” aka - christian grants to get off the bottle. Even if a few dollars were thrown to other religions, this excludes those without religions. Generalizing people into a group then picking and choosing which is best for their own beliefs and political standings is the only thing this administration does well.

A few blocks away from the White House is some of the worst, most impoverished neighborhoods I’ve ever seen in America. That would seem like a convenient location to start if there was a sincere desire to help anyone. I think since the government of both parties are pretty much useless, redeveloping low income communities will have to be the responsibility of the private sector. I guess I hoped my taxes were doing something better than overfeeding those greedy bastards in the government.

Crap…yes, big time media crap! My point of view on the subject has nothing to do with race. It just seems the government continues to segregate the various cultures in our country. I’ve viewed reports on various cities and it’s apparent on a percentage basis the split in communities, as you already know. Might as well be considered Redlining…globally.

The media continous to label various cultures and I think this is wrong. We’re all people living in the same communities and share the same city(s). I have good friends from various cultures with varied backgrounds, makes no difference to me. It offends me the presentation of this article and the need to advertise the financial splits.

Low-income, middle income, high income, we’re all the same in my eyes and should help each other as one. To me, this is the only way to bring people and communities together.

I too hope my post didn’t offend anyone as it was not my intention to do so. Thanks Jasondt2001 for responding and seeing that this isn’t a race issue.
