Bootcamps??

hi, long time reiclub lurker here, first time poster and my first question: anybody found useful info in any of the bootcamps sold by rei? like Alan Cowgill’s “where to get the money” and David Lindahl’s “apartament house riches”?? or any others?? thanks, Rob NJ.

A lot of them are nothing but upsells that try to sell you more of their so called education material. You pay something like $4000 for a bootcamp but it ends up being a sales pitch for a product or coaching program that may end up costing tens of thousands of dollars.

Some bootcamps have good information, others are dog and pony shows and they upsell you and parade other bootcamp speakers. They are good at getting you excited. It never hurts to become educated but the people who succeed are the doers. I advise you to document your goals, a strategy in a quick business plan and get a mentor and start doing. Continue to read and learn but do. It is easier said than done but if you are serious, you will make it happen. Best of luck.

Here’s my new BOOT CAMP!!!

I tell all the attendee’s that they’re a bunch of LOSERS…Only 5% of them will actually USE the information that I give them…95% will do NOTHING with it…

Believe it or not…those numbers are statistical FACT!!!

SAVE YOUR MONEY…

Start TALKING TO PEOPLE…Tell ANYONE you run into that you BUY HOUSES…Tell them that if they SEND you a lead that turns into a purchase you will give them $1000 CASH…Tell them that you HOPE they don’t believe you, because the people that DON’T believe you…actually end up getting you ALL your deals once they get their first PAYMENT!!!

TALK, TALK, TALK…Tell people what you want…It’s a NUMBERS game…The more PEOPLE that KNOW…The MORE phone calls you get!!!

BOOT CAMP???

Get your BOOTS on and go TALK with STRANGERS…ONE of them RIGHT NOW, knows the location of an INCREDIBLE DEAL on a home that someone just wants to UNLOAD!!!

I love this picture…

Michael,

holy crap what does that represent?

I would ignore what all the haters say. Real estate courses and seminars (the good ones) represent years of experience and take countless hours to create (I know because I wrote one). It’s better to get omprehensive info on a subject, and all the forms, etc, which will save you a ton of time compared to getting bits and pieces of information here and there and trying to figure out what to do with it.

About the courses you mentioned, I bought Alan Cowgill’s course years ago and put on a luncheon to find private money just like he said, and it worked. I raised $40,000 on my first try–not a huge amount but enough to have the cash for 2 subject-to deals. He gives you all the forms, checklists, and slides, so it was very thorough and easy to apply.

I don’t have Dave’s course so I can;t comment on it.

You may make note of the last posters WEB SITE before you buy into the IGNORE THE HATERS theory. That’s the one where he claims to make OVER A HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS by working LESS than ONE HOUR A DAY!!! :bs :bs :bs :bs :bs :bs

Or…come out to MY BOOT CAMP…I’ll let you CLEAN MY HOUSES and you can PAY ME for the HONOR!!! I’ll let you put YOUR MONEY inot MY BANK ACCOUNT and teach you valuable lesson like…WAX ON…WAX OFF…The PAINT BRUSH SECRET…Or my all time favorite…The GOLDEN CIRCLE EXECUTIVE SEMINAR!!!

If you want to buy a real estate coarse DO IT…But look on EBAY before you pay $1000’s for something you can get for $10 used…

Does ANYONE REALLY think you can make HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of DOLLARS WORKING LESS THAN ONE HOUR A DAY??? :banghead :banghead :banghead

All new guy’s should also be aware of the UPSELL…The upsell is where you buy the $50 coarse only to find out it’s USELESS…They tell you the NEXT coarse has the SECRETS in it…

It’s not about HATING…It’s about INFORMING new guys of what’s out there…

This site is FREE…People here are actually BUYING and SELLING Real Estate, not SELLING COARSES or BOOT CAMPS…If you need a BOOT CAMP to get you motivated to make money in Real Estate???

YOU AREN’T CUT OUT FOR THIS BUSINESS!!!

I talk to 30 people before ONE says YES…No BOOT CAMP on the PLANET is going to make you STAY with it unless YOU want to…

I’ll say it again…BOOT CAMPS are a complete WASTE of your TIME and MONEY…

Like 6 years ago I did Russ Whitney Bootcamps which just recently changed to Trident Learning Center http://board.tigrentlearning.com

Back then the company was even traded on the NYSE and believe still is but not sure symbol. Russ Whitney was very responsible for developing Cape Coral, FL. He is a main investor and owned tons of land there and if you followed REI, in 2003-2006 that was one of the top 5 area’s to invest during the boom.

His classes (bootcamps) are all taught by actually investors in different cities. They are 3 day bootcamps on 1 subject., plus the 5-7 day mentor program which I never took. Mentor program always had positive reviews as they work hard to close 1 deal for you during the mentor program at your home in your area and help develop your power team.

Am I promoting his company, well NO. What I am saying is, its not the typical seminar in a hotel lobby class. They take you out on the road, you try to work deals in the setting those days. 99% are active investors learning a new area, like WHolesale, Lease Option, Foreclosure, Asset Protection, etc, he has over 10 bootcamps to chose from back then. They encouraged you to keep cellphones on during classroom trainning just incase you got a live call, the instructor would help coach you on the live call you just recieved.

My advice…real trainning is best. Many local REIA clubs offer mentorships and that is in your backyard. They know what works best and have people lined up to help you. Many will belong to the club as well. But if your going to pay alot for trainning, get live training by real investors.

It represents the 6 degrees of separation we all have… If you know six people you can touch everyone in the world…

As for boot camps…

I think I am in the middle… I have never been to one… When I started speaking and touring telling the ole story it amazed me how many boot camps were out there…

I have to strongly agree with fdjake - a bootcamp shouldnt be looked at as a tool to rely on to keep you focused. If you want to you will if you dont you wont… with that said there are people who need training… there is the problem…

I haven’t done one but I imagine like anything else there are good ones and bad ones. It all depends on your attitude. No one can make anything happen FOR you. You have to make it happen for yourself. A bootcamp won’t make you money on it’s own. However if you put in effort and educate yourself, connect with like minded individuals, and take action, then you can be successful.
