I am thinking about billboards. I have one zip in mind that appears to be a gold mine. I can get a street billboard (that is, not an Interstate) for $1500/month.
One deal a month, and that billboard is worth every penny.
(FYI, the Interstate billboards start at $4K and go quickly to $6K per month.)
Anyone ever use billboards successfully?
Personally i havn’t used a billboard but i don’t think that it would work well unless it was positioned carefully. Honestly, do you read every billboard you pass by? i know i don’t. Unless it was positioned in an area where there is high traffic that would give a couple minute veiwing window waiting for a light change, or for people to finally start moving again, i don’t thing that it would be worth it
We do a lot of billboards and there are several key factors that you have to consider and some things you need to look into and do. First (as Rollo777 pointed out) you have to have traffic. That doesn’t always make a billboard a success though, sometime billboards that you think should be great lead producers aren’t. You should talk to an outdoor advertising person to get the traffic stats for the location you’re considering. Also you need to consider your message and design carefully. You only have a drivers attention for a few seconds so your message and contact info (your number) must be impactful and memorable. Another thing, just like many other forms of advertising, is repetition and exposure. You’ll have more success the more often people see your message and the longer they see it. What I mean by that is you ought to have more than one billboard and you should plan to run your campaign for a while so you can truly gage your results. You mention that interstate billboards are $4K - $6K . Like many other things you get what you pay for. What is the location and traffic like for the BB you’re considering. Is it a free-standing board or on the side of a building? How big is it?

There is a local invester in my area using 1-800-No Agent bill boards, (I think he has 4-5 of them up) He is doing so well with it he lost his other lead sorces (people) to my company, evidently so many leads he couldnt keep up. I dont think its a bad idea, but bang for your buck I dont know if thats the best way to go if your only doing 3-6 deals per month. On the other hand in this perticular case the owner wasnt ready for doing 12-20 deals per month.
