Greetings,
I would like to acquire some demographic studies on my county as fast as possible so I can a) find the right farm area, and b) determine the best areas of town for different creative buying strategies.
I realize that driving around to areas, reading the paper, and actually learning the details about areas of town is necessary, and I intend to do all that. But I would like to get started right away and I want to make sure I am spending my marketing dollars wisely and not using the wrong message for the wrong areas of town.
I happen to live in a beautiful and highly maintained county. While we do have some ugly houses - we don’t have that many (as compared to all the lease option / subject 2 deals that are available). And some of the areas where lease options will work are better than others.
Can someone give me a faster and easier (preferably economical) way to tap into this type of demographic data for a particular region?
Thanks,
Debra
Hi Debra,
There are several places in a county that can provide you with some of this data.
- The county planning & zoning commission
- The local chamber of commerce
- The local Economic Development board
If they don’t have the particular data you are looking for, they can point you in the right direction.
Hi Debra,
I am drawing a mind-blank right now but I know there is a certain type of report that counties and jurisdictions have that shows the number of building permits being applied for and approved in neighborhoods within a city or county. Patti gives solid advice because the reports that I can not think of what the name is can be found at the zoning and permit offices. I use this in my area. Where the big developers are pulling permits is where the action is. They have done the research for us.
You can go to your local County Recorder’s office for all this public info. Also, depending upon your relationship with a Title company, they should be able to get you this info, too. If you don’t mind paying to get the results, then try infousa.com .
