Best Nails To Use When Hanging Bandit Signs???

This may be a stupid question :biggrin But what are the best nails to use when hanging bandit signs to wood post? Thanks.

The ones with a point on the end so they go in easier. :anon

Sorry, had to say that. Roofing nails have a larger head and will hold a little better

Thanks Mdhaas. You certainly got a chuckle out of me. Is the MD for doctor?

do a google for the bandit sign hammer.

Thanks! The sign hammer looks like it would be a big asset.

So, how do you guys stop the wind from blowing the signs off the nails?

I get the 1" roofing nails at Home Depot. They have a plastic washer attached and serrated edges on the shaft. Hammer carefully as phone poles are very dense (at least here in central Florida!).

Hi Michael Q! Good to see you again!

Hi,

By wood post I assume you mean a utility pole. If so, simply
use more roofing nails or make your signs taller and not as
wide. Something like, 24 x12 works.

If you’re going to place them in the ground attached to a
wood stake, go as deep as possible. Also, use staples if
you’re using a wood stake into the ground.

Finally, a veteran technique is to attach your bandit signs
to a metal pole. This is done via punching four holes into
your sign about 3 inches wide (the width of the pole) and
2 inches vertically. Then affix your sign to a pole with zip ties.
Works like a charm!

All the best :biggrin

Been using roofing nails since forever and I’ve got no complaints… :biggrin

I would definitely opt for a fastener with some surface area (ie the nail with the plastic washer previously mentioned) that by far has the best holding ability. as far as speed of install goes the “slap stapler” or “hammer stapler” is pretty quick to use. I used them all the time when I worked for my fathers roofing company. But, you can get the best of both worlds by using something called a “stinger cap nailer” or “Stinger cap stapler” it actually gives you the same plastic cap for more surface area, but provides you with the ability to still use it as a “slap stapler” for the most part.

as far as the sign folding - if you are using the standard coroplast (corrugated plastic) type signs and your flutes run vertical the sign will have more of a tendency to fold along the flute thus making your sign fold in half horizontally (picture a how a menu folds). If you simply change the direction of the flutes and have them running horizontally they will have a much harder time folding in half horizontally. however, then you will have to use tape or zip ties to connect your sign to H stakes if you want to stick them in the ground. its simple physics. go grab a piece of card board and try folding it parallel to the flutes and then try folding perpendicular to the flutes! Good Luck!

Button cap roofing nails…

Not staples…
(the bandit signs will blow off with
staples)

A Hammer that is 1.5 to 2 lbs…

Use a regular hammer… and the signs will
fall down after you leave… they don’t
drive the stake into the ground deep
enough…

Drive the signs into the ground about
10 - 12"

Stakes… Is you stakes…

Use the half stakes… we sell…
they are 15" and it keeps the signs
from blowing over in the wind…

Local number… not 800…
is better…

To hire a person…

Run an ad… on craiglist…

Make $15 - $20 per hour…
Working part time on the
weekends

You’ll get 50 plus calls…

Either handle those calls live
and meet with them…

Or create an automated system…
with voicemails to weed them out…

When you hire someone… You will
pay $30 per 25 bandit signs…

Never give one person more than
25 bandit signs per area at a time…

You also hire a driver to over see
that your signs go out… pay them
$12 - $15 per hour as a manager…

To manage the process of the grunt
work…

You can get a free audio about the
secrets to using banditsigns…

David,

Is there a valid reason that your posts look more like poems than paragraphs?
