becoming a loan officer

If I am really only interested in becoming a loan officer to do my own loans and any that come my way without trying, would a broker see this as a plus or a negative or not care?

I don’t see why a broker would not mind. This sounds like you want to be a part-time LO… well go for it! You should not have a problem finding a brokerage to work for. Understand that a part-time position will only get you part-time results. I would start with calling the known real estate agents in your town and ask them for references of mortgage brokers that train and produce respectable LOs.

Good Luck,

Brokers don’t care. There are people in my office who I have never seen and others who I see about once a month. The people who I never see don’t even want to be LO’s really… they really just refer deals and because they are “in-house” they can be compensated.

In this business it’s all about $$…If your not going to bring $$ to the office make sure that your in the background, i.e., not in the office all the time using printers, faxes, pulling credit, asking questions, etc. and your broker could careless if you close a deal or not.

Thanks for the info. I am definitely going to go for it.

You can private email me and I’ll get you started with a 51 page training manual. Don’t worry, this is totally free. I just want you to take a look at it and have it for reference. It’ll get you warmed up with the basics and lingos of LO.
