Anybody know what the general rules and regulations are for rehabbing a basement into a studio APT?
If you want rules and regulations to avoid costly fines, go to your local building inspector’s office for them. I believe you’ll have to put in an egress window or some other 2nd exit in case of a fire. You’ll also need about 7 feet minimum of headroom. Before anything else, make sure it’s dry.
I have two exist and a window in this basement. Head room is 7 feet and plumbing is already there. It’s not dry but a little cold in the winter which is another obstacle that needs to be worked on.

I’ve had good luck with using DRYLOCK products for plugging larger leaks and a waterproofer for sealing the entire walls. Check out the display they have at the local hardware store.
