Bank started a foreclosure now has no record of a mortgage on it....

So a house in the sub has sat vacant for nearly two years now. The owner moved out during pre-foreclosure. I pulled the title work recently and the mortgage is with HFC. They are telling me that they don’t hold the note even when I have given them the loan number etc. A sheriffs deed has not been recorded. Does anyone have a direct contact at HFC that might be able to assist? The owner is long gone or I would offer him some cash and then pursue HFC for a release.

Any other thoughts on how to proceed in purchasing this home?

Your going to need to contact the Home Owner first. From there I would get all the papers signed and call HFC. Ask them to produce the note. If not your right pursue HFC for a release of lien.
