Bandit Flyers

Ever noticed those large paper flyers stapled & pasted to telephone poles around town that say “Up to $300 for junk cars” or whatever, printed on 12"x18" white paper with black print. Has anyone tried these with a We Buy Houses message?

It just hit me one day that I’ve NEVER seen a similar We Buy Houses paper flyer posted anywhere…not one. I see the typical corrugated plastic signs all the time, but no flyers. I’m sure these flyers must be effective (because the junk car buyers have them posted everywhere), they seem to stay up for much longer probably because they’re less conspicuous, and they are about half the cost of your typical plastic bandit signs. And I’d be the only guy around town doing it.

I was quoted $89 for 100 of these flyers from a local print shop, compared to $180 or so that I’d usually pay for 100 18x24" plastic bandit signs incl shipping. Looking to buy them tomorrow and give it a try. My concerns include weather durability and how to adhere them to metal poles.

Is anyone else doing this, or something similar? Is there anything special about the paper you use (coating, UV protection, etc)? How is it working out regarding leads?

Hey Archie - hope you are well.

I have not tried flyers, but would be interested to hear how you do with them so keep us posted.

As far as using something less conspicuous than an 18x24 bandit sign, I agree that may be a factor to them staying up longer. We use 12x18 signs and I’m convinced that’s part of the reason our signs can stay up for weeks and in some cases, months at a time. I know of locations where someone has put up the larger sign near mine and a week later there’s is gone but mine is still bringing calls in like a champ - the only difference (IMO) is the size of the sign…

Take care,

Ben

Ben - interesting!!! I guess the key is “conspicuous enough to get calls, but inconspicuous enough not to draw ire.” 12x18s may strike that balance. I just ordered a bunch of 18x24s but I’ll try the lil guys next. Also I took your advice and went ahead and got a signhammer…that should help as well.

Will keep you posted on the bandit flyers. Hope all’s well on your end too.

I really think it makes a difference in how long they stay up - but of course they are harder to see, but I’m happy with the number of calls I keep getting from signs and am still amazed at times how long some of my signs have been up.

Glad to hear you like the signhammer - we love ours - I borrowed a friends sign stapler once and wasn’t that happy with it, plus I don’t think the signs would stay up as long with the staples as they do with roofing nails.

excellent topic as I wondered myself if 12 x 18 would stay longer then 18 x24 signs. I agree with you guys that is the case, and I just got me a batch of 100. As as those flyers you mentioned , not sure about those but why not just go with the corrugated plastic that should last longer? I get mine form cheapbanditsigns and I just paid about $130 for 100 12 x 18 including shipping , not a bad deal. Thanks for reminding me of the signhammer as I had saw this before and I will go buy it now that I know it works. Happy house hunting.

In theory it seems like a good idea, especially for people trying to offload quickly for whatever reason. GL with the experiment
