last month a tenant moved in one of my rental for 525 a month she payed 700 security deposit, rent is due on the 14th of the month. on the 15th we call the tenant and she said she was coming on the 16th to pay. she never came and now she is avoiding returning our phone call. can i send her a demand for possesion for non-payment of rent. the house is in detroit (brightmoor)
Dog: What does your lease say? You can technically begin eviction process the very first day the payment is late. I don’t know your specific situation or knowledge background, but you need to know all your state specific laws.
Go to the state of Michigan website and get all specific landlord/tenant rules from there. Education is the key, and you really need to know the answer to all these questions before you even get involved in owning a rental.
