I was at the regiter of deeds office and they told me that one of the first signs that someone was about to start the foreclosure process is the appointment of subsitute trustee. I asked about lis pendens or notice of default and they said they didn’t list that. is the subsitute trustee really one of the first signs? I live in tennessee so it may be different here than other states. we are a deed of trust state. If this isn’t the first sign then what would be??any advice here would be appreciated.
In California, also a trust deed state, the substitution of trustee is recorded simultaneously with the Notice of Default so it offers no advance notice of foreclosure.
