I searched the archives for this and couldn’t find a specific answer to my question. If I submit my offer through the sellers realtor the contract will be written up on a standard CA real estate purchase agreement.
How do I go about assigning this type of contract, do I just add “or assignee” after my name? Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be or is this actually an issue? Any help?

It is my understanding that a contract is assignable unless it specifically states in the contract that it is not assignable. If it doesn’t state the contract is not assignable just use an addendum to assign your rights in the contract to your buyer. I also believe I read or heard from one of the many guru’s I’ve studied over the years that an unassignable contract can be made assignable by crossing out the statement that says it is unassignable. You may want to consult your real estate attorney on that because I am definitely not an attorney.
