Appreciation history

Hello,
I was trying to do some research on appreciation/depreciation. Does anyone have a website or any other way to look at historical appreciation.

I was hoping for a website where you could enter a city or zip code and get a historical chart or something similar.

Thanks,
DB

Hi again,

Does nobody at least check this?

I found several sites that are supposed to give this information for a fee. Where would you all look to do the work yourself?

http://www.bestplaces.net/nhood/

Sorry, it doesn’t show historical, but at least it’s something.

Travis,

Thanks that is good info.

Still looking for historical, though…

Hey,
Your local realtor group should have that info. Here, in Wichita Falls, Tx., a smallish (<100,000 pop) unsophisticated, redneck city, every quarter in the local newspaper they publish info regarding the general health of the local economy which includes pertinent real estate info (DOM, # of sales, avg. price per sale, etc). By keeping up with this you can derive appreciation. Surely, if you live in any kind of city they probably have that info either in the news files or the chamber of commerce might could get that for you. You could look at the data from the tax appraisals and get a feel for what is going on.
Peace,
Richard

Check out www.ofheo.gov. Under the house price index it will give you the info your looking for. Also it’s free.

Hi,

luckyroll, I haven’t got to deep into the stuff yet, but it looks like with a little work, I can get what I want there! Thanks a bunch!

Rhm,

I am looking to invest in a new area and yes, the realtor in my group has a lot of advice.( buy here, buy here, buy here :)) I think it is a good area, but want to do my own homework as this team is new to me. I could probably get into the newspaper archives and find the info going back a ways. just was looking for quick and easy chart or graph of the information. ( always my first choice LOL ). I have a pretty good feel for what is going on there now, just wanted a deeper look into the past.

Thanks all,

DB
