Hi.
I recently came across a website called hedgestreet.com
They allow you to bet on housing markets, interest rates, etc.
Does anyone have an account with them or know someone who does? If so I would like some first hand information.
Hi.

I leave hedging to the pros. If spent as much money on mortgage interest as Southwest Airlines spends on jet fuel, I would consider hedging. Of course, that would also mean that I’d have a team of multi-degree’d, commodity-trading experts to make those decisions for me. Even the pros make disasterous mistakes, eg., Long Term Capital Managment.
Since I have no idea what interest rates will be in 3 months, I’m not going to bet my money on it.
Good reason to not setup an account.
I’ve been doing a little research on this website and I’m interested in the concept, but I want some first hand information.
I used one of their calculators and the bet was 2:1 that the fed rate was not going to be 4.25!
I would take that bet all day. I’ve been watching the fed long enough that I am 90% confident we are going to get a bump the 31st and I’m 95% confident if we do get a bump it’s going to be a 25 Bps.
Problem is that I’m a cynic. I have to ask myself, “what’s the catch?” Can’t find anyone who has used this system.
:-\
no, but i have a broker managed commodity trading account.
i’m up nearly 30% since april ;-D
