This is my first post. I’m just starting to do some researching on real estate investing. I have a potential deal in the pipeline that I found on craigslist. My question is, how can I verify the credentials of the agent that I’m working with?

if the property is listed with a real estate agent, you should most definitely “hire” your own buyer’s agent, that you have interviewed and chosen.
Are you referring to the lisitng agent or another agent you have found? Is the property a REO? If the property is a REO, deal directly with the listing agent representing the bank. Or if you choose to use your own, make sure they have REO experience. Find a REO Specialist in your area. Normal retail agents will cost you time and money! Their REO learning curve will hurt you in the pocketbook.
