I’m doing my first rehab and have been requesting “add insured” status on the general liability policies of my contractors. But, I was wondering if it is necessary to be an “add insured” on the contractor’s auto liability policy as well? I seem to remember a speaker at a REI club advising this, but I don’t see the point. Any thoughts?
Do you mean “additional insured”? I’ld be surprised if a GC would do that. If a claim arises against you that is the responsibility of the GC, usually your insurance pays you and then goes after the other insurance. In any case, get a copy of the certificate of insurance and have your agent verify that the policy is in force.
