Here is a preview of what we’ll be seeing in the USA once that fact that we’re broke finally becomes apparent and entitlements are cut or eliminated. The only difference is that we have a huge percentage of lazy deadbeats in this country (about 30% of the country) and a large percentage of criminals who will join in the rioting. As we’ve seen in the past in L.A., New Orleans, and elsewhere - the riff-raff in this country are just looking for any reason to go wild looting, raping, and murdering. It’s coming to a city near you!
Articles like these, youtube videos, conspiracies, reading about the federal reserve, inflation, trillions in debt, recession, ETC… all make me think that we’re in for the rioting, looting, protests, ETC.
But…
Then I step outside, go to the supermarket, mall, city, work, ETC… and I realize that most people just don’t have the slightest clue to ANY OF THIS. And if they do have a clue, like myself, they aren’t exactly doing anything to prepare except adapting to the negatives or taking advantage of opportunities! I can’t imagine people coming together and rioting or protesting under these circumstances.
Not to mention that the world is changing too fast. The US might be struggling right now with all this crap, but the rest of the world seems to be doing better than ever (with some exceptions, of course)

So… I think I’ll put the dooms day scenarios aside for some time and accept that the major things that are meant to happen, WILL happen… hate to say it, but ignorance seems to be bliss right now!

Better than ever? Europe is close to collapse. China has the mother of all housing bubbles. The USA is beyond broke. Better than ever? I don’t think so.

They didn’t riot in Greece either, until it came time to pay the bill.
We do havea problem in the USA but all “empires” rise and fall. Rome was on top for a while, Britan was on top and now the USA. We will fall but we won’t hit the ground. We will be like Canada or something.

Saw a huge demonstration there with thousands of people chanting “PAP-AN-DRE-O!” One lady lost her RED dress, as the crowd ripped it off her. They didn’t like RED.

They’re rioting in Greece because the government wants to cut back on their socialistic handouts and that’s exactly why they will riot here. Seriously cut or take away their handouts and they will riot and loot!
Entitlements being abused are why this country is going broke.And only a govt who wants to cripple the dollar and erase it’s debt would be proposing massive new entitlements(healthcare).Or they are just plain insane people who never ran anything but a campaign based on :bs.

Unfortunately, you’re right. Assuming that The Chosen One and all the people surrounding him are not insane (and I certainly don’t believe that they are), then the only other logical conclusion is that they are INTENTIONALLY trying to bring down the economy. As a matter of fact, the socialists ARE following the Cloward and Piven strategy, which is to overwhelm the system with entitlements, causing it to collapse. The “emergency” resulting from that collapse would give them the justification to “fundamentally transform” the United States (as The Chosen One likes to say). When the financial collapse occurs and entitlements are severely cut back or eliminated, there WILL be rioting, looting, and the breakdown of law and order (as I have predicted). That will allow The Chosen One to impose martial law (whether actually declared or not) as was done on a small scale after Katrina. History has shown that such a time of upheaval can lead to just about anything (socialism, communism, marxism, dictatorship). That is EXACTLY what The Chosen One and his team of socialists are shooting for and the only reasonable explanation for their actions.
It is obvious to anyone that is paying attention that the Healthcare Bill is a farce. It won’t do anything to lower healthcare costs. What it WILL do is to drastically increase health care costs; drastically increase taxes; drastically increase the (already unsustainable) HUGE Federal debt; and drastically increase government control over our lives.
Sellinbama got it exactly right. This is NOT insanity, it is a well-orchestrated plan to achieve their socialist goals.
Greece doesn’t have a problem. The problem is with the Euro. When you have one currency but several monetary policies it is problematic. We tried that in the USA (Articles of Confederation) it didn’t work. We have one currency and require our states to balance their budgets. This allows one unified monetary policy. The Euro allows “sovereign” countries to run deficits.
If Greece was not in the Euro they would do what every other country does in this situation, their currency until the problem works its way out. But they can’t devalue the Euro because they don’t own it.
This happened in Chile in the 1980’s when they pegged their currency to the dollar. They were a developing country with their monetary policy being dictated by Paul Volker and Alan Greenspan who had none of their interests in mind when they made moves. It was a disaster until they decoupled. It was like being on roller skates being pulled by a Masaratti.
The only way out for Greece is to move to their own currency or get Germany to bail them out.
