A piece of WHAT??!!

A piece of rock. So, I bought this house and there is this huge chunk of rock in the basement. Huge chunk as in 7’ x 2’ x 8" or 10" - yes, as in thousand plus pounds rock. It is/was most likely for the fireplace that isn’t finished. Anyways, the old owner wants it, and it is technically his. Any ideas on what to do about it all?

How did he get it down there in the first place? I would tell him that if he wants it then it is his responsibility to get it the heck out of there. Man, never heard of a problem like this one… lol.

Wow. That sucks. But I also think the owner should be the one to get it out. Give him a firm timeframe for removal. You might have to keep “chipping away” at the problem until it’s solved… :biggrin Sorry. I couldn’t resist. Good luck.

LOL… Good one phlemboy. Sorry drwhite, sounds like your stuck between a rock and a hard place… :biggrin I could do this all day…

that’s a weighty problem.

-110 cfm air compressor
-safety glasses
-ear protection
-jack hammer

give it back in pieces.

I guess you will have to weight the pros and cons… :O)

You all are too funny. :bobble

Actually one thought I had was to relive some of my pre-federal felony days - as in under the age of 18 - and perform some pressure stress tests on various items one might obtain from a plumbing store… Not that I ever did any of that! Or that I ever would! Just that I heard that some other people tried that once or twice with some old tree stumps on their Dad’s farm…

Seller wants it, seller moves it. Make sure he understands he has to move it without damage to the house and he has a time frame to do it in.

Otherwise, a jack hammer will reduce it to manageable size or else convert it into a useable bench.

Ya might want to check and see if that is gold bearing ore.
